 Expedition Fiber
In Expedition Fiber Students analyze the role of light in communications, from the heliograph to modern fiber optic cable. They learn how the manufacture of fiber optic cable is related to the geometry of circles, the metric system, and the speed of light. They examine the historical context of Man’s use of light as a medium of expression, and trace the scientific advances that gave rise to modern fiber optic technology. Using real scientific instruments, they explore the functioning, geometry, and metrics of optic systems, and complete reflective activities on what they’ve learned.
