The C-Tech Communications Pathways Series™ is your students' ticket to explore the fascinating realms of Science and Technology. Each program uses the world of telecommunications—a world they live in every day—to show how science and technology form the backdrop of our lives. The programs employ other core disciplines as well for a cross-curricular experience. The programs feature activities in:

History : The History of Telecommunications, telegraph, telephone, the evolution of fiber optics.

Science : Electromagnetism, Electricity, Optics, the Electromagnetic Spectrum, the Scientific Method, interpreting test results.

Problem-Solving: Troubleshooting, relating the abstract and the concrete, applying standards, detection and prediction of patterns

Mathematics : Geometry of circles and angles, absolute and relative measurement, scientific notation, using standard scientific equations, the Metric system, table lookups.

Language Arts : Vocabulary building, reading and following instructions, writing instructions and other procedures, reflective practices, references and links to classic works of fiction, writing reports of experimental findings.

Career Awareness : Each CPS unit contains information and activities concerning career paths for students to explore.

The six CPS programs include well-written and informative text, abundant graphics, fun and challenging hands-on activities, and plenty of opportunities for teachers to develop their own activities and projects based on the program content. No special training is required to teach these programs. C-Tech supplies full teacher support, including assessment criteria for the graded activities. In addition, each program includes additional opportunities to learn more through links to entertaining and educational web sites.
